I never met my 4th cousin. 2 times removed, but I did research all of the following information:

WILLIAM SYDNEY BROADHEAD

William was born July 24, 1888 in London, England, the son of George John and Julia Leontine (nee Bowen) Broadhead. He was the second youngest of four brothers all who served in World War I: Richard Edwin Bowen (CEF), John William (CEF) and George Richard (British Army)were the other three.

Willam immigrated to Canada in 1910 and is shown in the 1911 Canada Census living in South Toronto with his widowed Mother and brothers John and Richard.

William married Sarah Farrant on September 30, 1914 York, Ontario, Canada.

William enlisted in the 123 Battalion, Royal Grenadiers, Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on December 7, 1915 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, service number 766340. He was listed as a Auto Tire Repairer. His service number was 766340.

Attestation

William embarked from Halifax on August 8, 1916 on board SS Cameronia, arriving in England on August 18, 1916.

William left for France on March 9, 1917 where he served until March 10, 1918 without indication of being wounded.

William was struck off service to Canada on March 17, 1919 and was discharged from His Majesty's Service March 28, 1919.

William and Sarah are shown in the 1921 Census in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

William was awarded the British War Medal and the Victory Medal which were presented to him on December 19, 1922.

William was reported to Vertan Affairs as having died on September 11, 1966 in Wetminister Hospital, London, Ontario, Canada.
