     1. Obituary: It's with aching and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Glen Maurice Cromarty. Glen passed away peacefully at home on May 28, 2014 surrounded by his wife and children. Glen was born in Tessier, Saskatchewan; his parents were Melba and Sam Cromarty. Glen leaves to mourn his passing, his Soulmate of 60 years, his wife Evelyn. Glen met his Soulmate in Fruitvale, BC and they were married in Creston. Glen worked for BC Hydro for many years as cable splicer. Glen was a member of Union Local 258 Electrical Workers up until his retirement in 2010. Glen is survived by his wife Evelyn, and children Roberta (Conrad), Dayle (Sheila), Dean (Donna), Dwain (Teresa), Donald (Jackie), Darren (Carol), Todd (Jackie), Timothy (Rayanne), Tammy (Charles), 38 grandchildren, 8 great-grand children, many nieces and nephews, his special sister Marjy (Fred) and brothers. A special thanks to Dr. Mcleod, Dr. Edmonds, the hospital nurses, and home care workers. A Celebration of Glen's Life will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 2:00 pm in Merritt, BC at 2990 Voght Street (Crossroads Community Church) with a luncheon to follow.

Died age 74 years 2 months 11 days on March 14, 1952 at home due to cardiac dilation with history of myocardial degeneration and hypertensive cardio vascular disease. Buried March 18, 1952 at Maple Ridge Cemetery. Saywright Funeral Chapel of Haney undertaker. Informant Clara G. Hammond, wife.

Note from Karen Hanna: Possible reason why his father's first name is not known is when viewing 1881 Canada Census: Ontario, Arran, Bruce North B2 page 36 are Hammond children: Mathew 20, James 18, David 16, Mary Ann 14, Fanny 11, John 9, and Herbert 1 with adults Roland COX 28 and Barbara COX 32. Was Barbara a second wife to Mr. Hammond who had the older children, then he passed away and she quickly married Roland Cox?

Simm in Ryde, has reaped a large harvest of souls on the prairies, and is still wielding his pen, which is certainly mightier than his sword." Brooks letter 1909 from the Prairie to Ryde residents. She also married Percy Francis Hilts b. May 3, 1882 Nova Scotia. He died June 23, 1974 in New Westminster B.C. they married in 1932 in Keystown Sask. Canada.
