Passed away at the Blue Water Health Hospital, in Sarnia, ON, on Wednesday, November 10, 2010, in her 73rd year. Beloved wife of the late James Loshaw Sr. and companion to Joe Devreeze of Kettle Point. Loving mother of Debra Shepstone (Wayne), Kathleen Douglas (Kelly) and the late James Loshaw Jr (mother in-law to Cathy Loshaw). Proud grandmother of Daniel (Darlene) & David (Anne) Shepstone, Bradley (Christy) & Steven (Holly), Kristy, Kelly Ann & Kassandra. Great grandmother of Ethan, Hunter, Skyler, Dakota, Scott & Stephanie. Dear sister of late Margaret Sauce (Joe), Mary Green, Hazel Etler, Clifford Harper and Earl (Gord) Harper. Also survived by her sister-in-law Betty Harper.
Friends will be received at the Reynolds Funeral Home ‘Turner Chapel’ in Bracebridge, on Monday, November 15, 2010 from 6 – 9 p.m. The funeral will be held in the chapel on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. Interment Bracebridge Municipal Cemetery.      1. Examiner Banner Wed. May 26 2004:- Dorothy May Barnes (nee Ruttan) passed away at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge on Tuesday, May 18 2004. She was born at Ryde Township on May 8 1924. Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Wm Alfred Barnes. The two were married on May 15 1943 at Gravenhurst. From this union came their children Priscilla, Lorne, Marie, Donna, Wayne, and Ron. Dorothy was not only predeceased by her husband but also her daughter Gloria and by her two sons Roger and Brian.
She is survived by her sisters Irene Laycock and Verna Brittain and by her brother Ken Ruttan. She is predeceased by her sister Grace Stoner and by her brothers Rod and Eric Ruttan. Dorothy was the beloved and proud grandmother of 19 Grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
     In her early years she atteneded the Ryde Township Public School and lived all her life in Gravenhurst. She was proud to be a housewife and took great pride in taking care of her children, which in itself was a full time job. She enjoyed baking for her family and especiallly loved making them pies to which they looked forward and enjoyed.
     The family recieved friends at the W. J. Cavill Funeral Home in Gravenhurst on the evening of Thursday, May 20, 2004.
A chapel service was held to celebrate the life of Dorothy May Barnes on Friday May 21 2004. Interment took place at Mickle Memorial Cemetery beside her late husband who predeceased her in 1993. Rev. Johanne Hills officiated at the chapel service.
Pallbearers assisting at the funeral were James Clement, Dwayne Barnes, Ken McDonald, Brian Barnes, Michael McDonald, Ian McDonald and honorary pallbearer was Adam Jones.
     Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family
